Scott Schroedl’s Pro Drum Tracks

The concept for Scott Schroedl’s Pro Drum Tracks materialized as a way for home studio owners to receive professional sounding live drums at a fraction of the cost of normal studio drummer prices. In fact, it would cost you more to rent a high-end drumkit like mine with out a drummer!

How can I do this so inexpensively? I own my own professional studio attached to my home called The Dream Factory. This allows me to do this on my downtime. You the customer, are not paying for set up time of my drum kit or cartage costs. My drum kit is always set up and ready to go. There are no tape costs involved since I record digitally (using Nuendo). I don’t have to hire an engineer (I have a setup that allows me to record myself easily).

It’s as easy as you e-mailing me an mp3 (or sending a CDR) of the song(s) you wish to add my services to. Once I record my drum tracks, I will email you an mp3 for your approval. If you see the need for any changes at that time, I will re-record the song (or section) to your liking and once again, email you an mp3. My goal is your satisfaction. However, any takes beyond the second may be subjected additional charges. Payments for my services will be accepted through PayPal by using most major credit cards. Once you have approved the tracks and payment has been received, I will send you the individual tracks on CDR for you to import as separate mixable files into your recording system.

The Details
To get started, you will need to e-mail me an mp3 of your song(s) along with the songs title (please only email one song at a time to keep the file sizes down). I prefer to work with a click track, so if you have one, please email that as a separate file (labeled with the song title to avoid confusion if sending multiple songs). The click and your song should have the same start time so I am able to easily align them together. If possible, a two measure count in is preferred. For songs with tempos under 100 bpm, I would appreciate an eighth note click (but not necessary). I prefer the standard midi file woodblock if possible, but I can make due with most anything. Also, let me know if you’ve sent me the “keeper” tracks or if they are a scratch track that will be redone. This will help me determine whether I should follow you or lock in with the click regardless of your timing.

Please let me know what you prefer for your final tracks. A sample rate of 44.1k or 48k and resolution of 16bit or 24 bit.

You can either provide charts of the songs with specific directions (such as “come in on the first chorus” or “play simple on the verses and more busy during the choruses”), or I can use my best judgment to play what I think would be most appropriate. A lyric lead sheet can also be helpful, but not necessary. The more I understand about what you want from the beginning, the easier I can fulfill your vision of the completed song.

Reasons to use my services:
-I personally play and record all of the drum and percussion parts (I have recorded thousands of songs as my profession)
-these are custom drum parts for your songs (not drum loops)
-I use professional acoustic drums (or electronic or both depending on your needs)
-I have a wide selection of professional drums and cymbals to select from to fit your project vision perfectly.
-My per song rate includes both my drumming and the studio time in my professional studio.
-you get separate tracks (as .wav files) you can load into your system and mix yourself.
-fast turnaround (typically around a week, but you can check my availability by e-mailing me)
-expertly tuned high end drums (I literally wrote the book “Drum Tuning- the Ultimate Guide” on this subject) with great microphones (close mic'd and tracked separatly) and proper placement in a room designed to sound great.
-for a small fee ($25) you can also get extra percussion added to complete your song. Please review my many instruments on my "gear" page.
